My Strangest Oddball Set

I grew up on fish sticks. Big family, easy meal for my mom to fix: frozen fish sticks and french fries. That meal took a back seat when I joined the Air Force, and was still missing a few years into marriage. But then our son was born, and soon, fish sticks came back around as an easy meal.

Soon, Van de Kamps fish sticks were back as a staple of our diet and in 1994 they issued an item in their boxes that combined three of our favorite things: stickers, dinosaurs, and collector cards. But not baseball collector cards...

Fish-O-Saurs!
We made it a point to eat a lot of fish sticks, not just because we loved them, but now we wanted the cool stickers, and to collect the whole set, eight cards in all.
I'm sure that my son had many of these stuck on walls and windows, but I was able to collect the set for myself as well, and keep them unstuck, in a binder page.

Here they are in all their glory.

Worry Wartus is my favorite.
How can you be so scary looking, yet so scared at the same time?
Hilarious.

Man I wish I would have sent away for that poster.
I'll have to check ebay to see if any are available, it would be a nice addition to the set.

Its an eye catching set.
And when you turn out the light...
Their skeletons glow!
(Not the best photo but you get the idea.)

Good times.

  1. Ohhh! Glow in the dark! Don't let Gavin see those... I think he has a soft spot for such cards.

    1. Thought of Gavin too. These are pretty awesome... and I'm totally craving fish sticks. Too bad it's already past my bedtime. Maybe I'll add it to my grocery list.

  2. Wow, I don't think I've seen these in 25 years! I got one or two when they came out, but had forgotten all about them.
