Angels Ticket Stub - 1983

Brewers at Angels on Sunday, September 4 at 1 PM. Starting pitcher Don Sutton (7-11) for the Brewers against the Angels Tommy John (9-11). The Angels were the defending 1982 Western Division Champs. But by this point in the season both they and the Brewers were non-contenders.

Seating was in a very nice location for a Sunday afternoon game. These seats would have been beneath the overhang of the second tier, or "middle level" as we liked to call it, out of the sun.

Now on to the game.

The game was scoreless until the bottom of the 6th when the Angels broke it open.  From retrosheet:
ANGELS 6TH: O'Berry made an out to shortstop; Wilfong doubled to right; Sconiers was called out on strikes; Beniquez was hit by a pitch; DeCinces homered [Wilfong scored, Beniquez scored]; Lynn
singled to right; Reggie Jackson forced Lynn (shortstop unassisted); 3 R, 3 H, 0 E, 1 LOB.  Brewers 0, Angels 3.

After the Brewers scored one on a Paul Molitor sac fly, the Angels came to bat again:
ANGELS 7TH: Valentine doubled to left; Adams singled to first [Valentine scored (error by Cooper)]; O'Berry out on a sacrifice bunt (pitcher to first) [Adams to second]; Wilfong singled to second [Adams to third]; Sconiers grounded out (first unassisted) [Adams scored, Wilfong to second]; Beniquez grounded out (third to first); 2 R, 3 H, 1 E, 1 LOB.  Brewers 1, Angels 5.

The Brew Crew tacked on 2 more in the top of the 9TH after a bases loaded walk and then a passed ball.  The Angels won the game 5-3.

GAME HIGHLIGHTS:
Molitor hit his 23rd double of the season, Ted Simmons his 34th.
Doug Decinces hit his 17th home run.
The Brewers stranded 11 runners.
Tommy John went 8.2 innings for his 10th win, Sutton going 7 for his 12th loss.
Time of Game: 2:20   Attendance: 23,970

Lets check out the back of the ticket

Yeah Buddy, loved me some Pup 'n' Taco in the 70's and 80's. On Saturdays my father would send me to the local franchise on my bike to get him a "Taco on a Bun". He'd let me get the "Two Chili Dogs for Fifty Cents" special for my effort. Then we'd sit in the den and watch a ballgame on TV while we ate our lunch. Man, they had the best chili dogs and french fries, and an awesome cherry slush. Good times.

And for those who like to read the fine print on the back of tickets...
