Who Knew?

Raise your hand if you knew that Jeff George was the number one draft pick by the Patriots.
No hands should raise because he never was drafted by the Patriots. This card is part of a 4-card pack distributed the day of the 1990 Draft speculating the teams George might go to: the Patriots, Falcons, or Colts (the fourth card is of Falcons Keith McCants).

These are from 1988 Topps Big as indicated by the blank backs.

The bottom card (1981 Fleer Team Action) is interesting. The back talks about a game between the Broncos and the Patriots (there's even a Patriot helmet on the back) but the stadium shown is Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum, the end zones marked with OAKLAND and RAIDERS (this would be the last year for the Raiders here, as they moved down to LA). But why have the Raiders Stadium on a Patriots card?

That 1970 Topps-looking card is actually a 2017 Topps - Rediscover Topps NNO Info Card.
1989-90 OPC Theo Fleury rookie card.

I'm glad Kerry saw these as "damaged" because I see them as perfect!

  1. I wish Topps would insert offer cards into their flagship packs. I'd definitely buy sweatshirt or a hoodie with their logo (especially their 70's logo) on it.

P.S. Cool Jeff George. Maybe I'm wrong... but I feel like there was a lot of hype around those Pro Set cards back in 1990.

    1. Fuji, there are some companies that make shirts with the Topps logo on them. I have one with both the ‘70’s and current one on it.
Those are some nice cards, Tom. How close are you to finishing the ‘94 Stadium Club info card set and the ‘89 UD set? I feel like they could probably be finished this year with all the ones I’ve seen you get in trades.
