Big Mail Day From Mr. Blay

I received one of the big mail day packages that Too Many Verlanders has been sending out. I love being the recipient of one of Dennis's mailings, he always hits up stuff I not only like but can use, and across several of my collecting topics. This package was full of Angels, Patriots, checklists and Theoren Fleury!

Wow! Relics are especially appreciated because I don't buy much retail, so I rarely ever pull one in a pack, I don't have a local card show or even a shop to go to, and I don't buy online. So, it's extra sweet to "pull" one from a care package.

I'm glad Dennis is willing to send oversized stuff, these 1980 Topps "white backs" are nice. I tend to shy away from trading oversize stuff due to postage costs.

Keen eyes will know that that's a 1985 Leaf checklist, not Donruss. Took me a minute to figure it out.

Look at that, more relics!

and more oversized stuff.

Those 1994 Edge immediately reminded me of Starting Lineups. Did SLU's ever include Collectors Edge cards or was there a similar design? Either way, I like them alot.

Promo sheets were big in the 90's, and they were almost always awesome like these two that include Theoren Fleury.

Really great stuff Dennis, thanks for thinking of me.

Scale Modelling Update

Here are some of the kits I've completed in the last several months.

AMT 1/35 scale USMC LAV-25AT

Lindberg 1/35 scale Polish BMP-1U

Airfix 1/72 Vought OS2U Kingfisher

AMT 1/25 1950 Ford

Revell 1/25 1969 Chevy Camaro
Inspired by a Japanese F-4 Phantom (Kai).
A bit off the wall with the camo, but I wanted to do something different.

Junk Mall Junk Wax Wednesday

Ripping a random pack of junk wax from the local junk mall.

Pack of 12 cards with no chance to pull an insert card.
Primitive.

Best base card to pull would be an Ed McCaffrey rookie.

Score! (no pun intended) I needed the McMurtry for the team set.

Nice design but a bit too much empty black space.

Subsets are okay.

The black area on the back is good in this case.

Give Some, Get Some

I had an Odd Stuff Giveaway recently, not in order to get stuff in return, but just to get rid of some stuff that I thought someone else might like. A few folks however, felt they wanted to send some stuff back my way, which wasn't necessary, but I will always be thankful for. It's always nice to get stuff in the mail. Steve is one of those folks that sent me some cards I needed via TCDB.

This is the 5th trade between us on TCDB. One more and he takes the lead...wink, wink.

Junk Mall Junk Wax Wednesday

Ripping a random pack of junk wax from the local junk mall.

Pack of 10 cards with a chance to pull a Limited Print Foil Stamped card, an autographed card, a Gold Edition parallel, or a Desmond Howard insert or autograph.

Anyone name any of these guys without looking it up?

What's Black and White and Red All Over?

Angels in 2004 Bowman Heritage of course!

First time I ever noticed (or more likely I just forgot) the tiny "B/W" or "Color TV" font at the bottom.
Can't say that my eyes are better now than they were in 2004 so I probably just forgot.

TCDB Trade #145 KSJ128

NOT a good shot of Cooper Criswell.

This was a 2-PWE trade which I think is the way to go when shipping more than 12 cards at a time.

Third Floor Prize Winnings

The View From The Third Floor recently held a multi-week, multi-post contest to guess the nine (or eighteen) player cards he had picked out for each NFL team. Pretty fun trying to guess who he felt was worthy. I ended up with the second most correct picks (congrats Jafronius) and the only one to guess a perfect 9-pocket page so I got two PWE prizes!

Missing Mini Mistake

I've forgotten to include a card here and there in trade transactions. It happens. And whether it was me or the other trader, we've always made it right. Sometimes it even evolves into an additional trade. Such was the case here, where the mini shown below was accidently left out of the PWR from the prior trade. In order to get me the mini, and maximize the cost of postage, we came up with another trade. Win Win.

After claiming some free stuff I had offered up, they wanted to return the favor with some cards I needed. Offer accepted! And thank you!
2008 Sports Equation Math Learning Cards #14

The two 1992 Upper Deck for my PCs are the Factory Set Gold Hologram version.
Also, I would have sworn I already had the Tom Heinke for the 1989 set build because I had posted about it 12 years ago.

The Rendon Experiment

The Angels signed Anthony Rendon as a free agent in December 2019. In those four seasons he has played in 52, 58, 47 and 43 games and earned 26, 28, 36 and 38 million dollars a season. His combined statistics in those 200 games over 4 seasons is 179 H, 22 HR, 111 RBI, .249 BA, and committed 18 errors. He can become a free agent again in 2027. Heaven help us.

Those two rounded-corner cards are 1987 Indiana Blue Sox (unlicensed) cards. I had never seen these before.
