Too Many Shapes And Sizes

Package from Too Many Verlanders that included items in all different shapes and sizes.

Standard sized Patriots cards.
I like the severed foot flying in from the right on Malcolm Butler's card.
Just in time for Halloween.

A Tim Salmon with a slide frame embedded.
Some really nice Tim Salmons actually.
Note the Wally Joyner Starting Lineup card, you'll see why below.

Grossly miscut 2013 Topps Heritage 50th Anniversary Buy-Back.
So cool though.  This is the only buy-back in my Angels collection.

Normal size and gargantuan checklists.
There were a bunch of these and some even larger poster-sized checklists.
Crazy.

2006 Upper Deck Sweet Spot Signatures #172, 14/99.
Super-thick.  Like paint stick thick.
Second thickest card in my collection.

1998 Donruss Studio 8x10.
Came in its own sheet protector.

1988 Starting Lineup Wally Joyner.
The figure that goes with the card above.
A bent-bat, ear-less, Wally Joyner.

I love it!

Completed Angels Team Set - 1970, 1971 Topps Scratch-Offs

Topps loves the game cards.
This was a foldable scratch-off game card featuring 24 different player mugshots on the front.
Jim Spencer is the only Angel in this set.

Unfolded the card requires a coin to scratch off the black boxes revealing a baseball "action".
Try to avoid getting 3 outs!

You can keep score on the back of the card.

This same set came out in 1971 with the same players, the difference being the 1970 cards have a white center (as shown above) and the 1971 a red center.

Here's my 1971 Jim Spencer with the red center:

I also have a copy that's scratched off, to show you how the game worked:

I would have to assume that the order of actions are different per card.
Otherwise the game would always end up in a tie!

Now all of you who gave away your dupes of these without opening them up to see two different variations are kicking yourselves.
I actually had this 1971 red version in my giveaway box, as a dupe for the 1970 card, for a long time.

Scratch-offs are so cool.

Acquired Mat and Matt Autographs

Mat Latos I traded for on sportscollectors.net.
Latos signed as a free agent with the Angels in September after being released by the Dodgers.
He appeared in 2 games for the Halos this season.

Matt Joyce came back in the mail after 226 days from Angels ST.
Joyce was acquired in a trade with Tampa Bay for Kevin Jepsen.
He played in 93 games and hit .174.

Patriots Gameday Autographs

Won these autographed 4x6 index cards on a couple recent Listia auctions.

John Mazur was the Patriots Head Coach from 1970-1972.
He started as an assistant coach to Clive Rush in 1969, and took over as Head Coach after Rush resigned in November of 1970.  He went 9-21 in his tenure with the Pats.

Rod Rust was the Patriots Defensive Coordinator from 1983-1987 and became their Head Coach for one season in 1990.  In his only season as a head coach in his career he went 1-15 with the Pats.

I may end up using these as cut autographs on custom cards since I'm not Wayne.

Who out there makes custom cards on consignment?

Dean Chance

I just read that Angels Great Dean Chance passed away yesterday.
He was drafted by the Senators in the 1960 A.L. Expansion Draft but was quickly traded to the new Angels for Joe Hicks.
He went on to have a great career with the Angels (1961-1966) and won the Cy Young award for them in 1964.

Some Random, and Curious, LCS Pickups

These all came out of the 5-for-a-buck junk boxes my dealer lets me go through.
Pretty good stuff in there sometimes.
But I'm curious about them.

2006 Bowman Gold #B6
Now with the Rangers (but not on the Post Season roster) along with another ex-Angels catcher Mike Napoli.
Hmmmmm....

2006 Bowman Heritage Mini #75
Wardrobe malfunction?
Those threads coming off his shoulders are on another issue of this card I have.
Hmmmmmmm....

2014 Topps Heritage #43 SSP Red Letter Error
Though not really an error, it was designed to be that way.
Hmmmmmm......

1990 Topps '89 ML Debut #46
A Griffey rookie card in the junk boxes with no penny sleeve protection?
Hmmmmmm......

2005 Donruss Diamond Kings #164 Framed Green, 09/50
Does Barry Zito have a lazy eye in real life?
Hmmmmmmm.....

2014 Topps #331 Target Blue
When did Puig loose his left thumb and index finger?
Hmmmmmm.....

2013 Topps #199 Camo, 13/99
Got nothin' for this one.
Hmmmmm......

2013 Topps Chasing History CH9 Silver Foil
So is he chasing history on this card or had he already made history?
In which case it should be title as such.
Mariano doesn't know either.
Hmmmmmmmm.....

2014 Topps Sweepstakes Card
Did I win?
Hmmmmmmm......

No I did not.

2-4-6-GCRL

Titled 2-4-6-GCRL because I broke the cards sent by GCRL into groups of 2, 4, and 6, you see...
Oh, here's the cards:

Two (2) checklist cards.
1991 Donruss The Rookies #56
1999 Topps #241

Four (4) Troy Glaus
Suffered some scanner skewage there.

Six (6) miscellaneous Angels.

Nice little lot of cards GCRL.
I'll have to dig for some Dodgers for you in return.

Completed Set - 1989 Fleer Logo Stickers

Twenty-seven stickers in the first set.
One sticker per team for the large logo sticker series.

The back of each card has a history of the team who's logo is featured on the front.
There were no variations in the large logo sticker series.

However, there are variations in the smaller 4-team stickers.

There are actually only 12 cards in this set, but I'm showing 17.
You can see that several cards have the same 4 teams on the front.
That is due to there being multiple team history backs.
For example, on the last two cards shown one has a Pirates back and the other a Padres back.

This is the complete set including the variations.

Thanks to Fleer Sticker Project for documenting the variations.
