Tribute To Mario Cuomo

Mario Cuomo passed away yesterday.
I wanted to pay tribute not to his political success (our views differ there) but for his contributions and love of baseball.  Most don't know that he was a highly touted prospect drafted by the Pirates.
In his first season he was struck in the head by a pitch and had to give up baseball.

Mr Cuomo signed this index card for me after I wrote him at his office about 15 years ago.
I had seen him in the Ken Burns Baseball series and loved the stories he told.
The "1951" on the index card was actually a typo on my part.  On a second index card he signed he correct the date to 1952.
