Checkin It Off - 1992 Classic Best

Complete checklist set from the great 1992 Classic Best baseball set.
I bought an opened, but complete, factory set of these and pulled the checklists out in total.

There's a reason that card in the upper left is upside-down.

Its so the checklists flow out in order on the back. You see, that last checklist card was for the 50-card set (401-450) that didn't come in the wax packs and was only found in the factory set. Someone dropped the ball when it came to paying attention to the format of the other checklists.

Checklist Complete - 1991 Topps Micro

Micro is the perfect word to describe this Topps set that mimics the regular issue, and regular size, 792-card set. Six checklist cards are in the set, sorted by team name rather than numerically. And then, even the teams are sorted alphabetically, which never made sense to me.

Kind of a senseless and stupid set as they're too tiny to be of any real use. I couldn't even get a good scan on them since the font is so small. Just another Topps gimmick.
You get an idea how small these are when you compare the complete six card checklist set to a single regular sized card.

Checkin' It Off - 1974 Topps

Completed the 5-card checklist set for 1974 Topps, and the 1-card checklist for 1974 Topps Traded.

1974 was the first year Topps cards weren't issued in series, but instead all at once at the beginning of the season. The 1974 set contained 660 cards.
The dark green backs and small font make the names a bit hard to see.
Card #414 Checklist 397-528 is valued a bit higher than the other checklists. The only real big name is Harmon Killebrew, maybe that's why?
Also interesting that the trademark is in two different locations on the bottom.

Single, unnumbered checklist card for the Traded set.
Odd in that the cards in the traded set correspond to the players card in the regular set, therefore they are not numbered sequentially: there's no 1, 2, 3.... in the 43-card set. It all depended on the card number from the regular set.

No big names being traded in 1974, however we can see that Aurelio Monteagudo went from the Angels to the Phillies.

Checkin It Off - 1991 Leaf Baseball

1991 Leaf Baseball has a 6-card checklist set, to cover the 528-card base set and the 26-card BC Gold Rookies insert set.
(There were an additional 12 Gold Rookies numbered BC-265 thru 276 that are not on any checklist)
I love the Leaf checklist cards because the fronts of the cards include a photo thumbnail and card number, leading you to think it's actually the back of the card.

The photos included a nice selection of some popular players.
Good additions to your player collection.
1991 Leaf did not have an update set so there is no update checklist to try to obtain.

Thanks to Mark Hoyle for helping me complete this set.

Christmas In July From Johnny's Trading Spot

I've been getting some great cards lately trading with Johnny's Trading Spot, but I wasn't expecting a big package like this one that arrived recently.

A Priority Mail box stuffed with 4 blocks of nicely wrapped packs of cards.
I'm seeing red and green so I'm thinking Christmas in July!! Yeah BUDDY!!

Let's open our gifts!

Pack one was full of checklist cards.  I love checklists!
The 1988 Topps checklists are good looking cards, much better than the bland white checklist cards.
Pack two you can see is full of Fleer Stickers.
Sweet, I've been wanted to check off more Fleer Sticker cards from the wantlist.
Two packs of my favorite things.

Let's open another.

Nice, another block of checklist cards.
Bet there's probably a checklist set somewhere in there.

Oh!  Another block of checklists!
I'm picturing John spending all weekend going through tens of boxes of cards pulling out every single checklist and Fleer sticker he had.

That's a ton of cards!

Let's see some of the other stuff inside.

Love these.
At one time I thought I had the whole set but then realized that there are subtle differences, and white or grey backs.  So I'm still working on the master set of these.

I must have tossed dozens of these Upper Deck holograms before I realized that they would be an awesome set to work on.
Been picking these up here and there, especially those from 1992 Upper Deck Heroes like this one.
I don't come across the Heroes holograms very often.

At first I thought this was a Fleer sticker but when I turned it over I found it was a box-bottom card.
The checklist notes that there is a Cardinals logo out there as well.
I'll need to go find one now.

And with the help of all those cards in the box I was able to complete these checklist sets:

Better than Christmas,
it's m'birthday, it's m'birthday.

I hope you're never looking for a checklist card to complete a set John, because if you do I probably have it now.
