Completed Angels Team Sets - 1985 and 1986 Topps 3-D

1985 Topps 3-D Card #14
Reggie Jackson gets the lone nod as the Angels representative in this new issue from Topps.
The cards are 4 1/4 x 6 and printed on plastic card.
The image is raised above the surface, it sticks out, hence "3-D".
The cards came one per pack and originally sold for about 50 cents.
There are 30 cards in the set.

Placement of the team logo is rather odd, but other than that it's pretty cool.

The 1986 team set featured a lone Reggie Jackson again on card #13.
Much better design in my opinion.
The size increased by a quarter inch across, otherwise the same idea.
Again a 30 card set issued one per pack.

And here is the back for your viewing pleasure.
The backs are blank and have two peel-off strips to attach your favorite player to the wall, mirror, refrigerator, or anywhere else mom would disapprove.
You can really see the relief of the players pose.

Might want to fill these up with chocolate and pop them out for Easter treats!

  1. Cool oddballs! I remember these being in the stores, but as I was in my early 20's at the time, I scoffed and mentally declared them "kids stuff". I'd be more receptive to them now, especially the 1986's... except I wouldn't know what to do with it once I got it.

  2. I featured my Fernando on the blog quite some time ago. It sits in a box of "irregulars" now. I have a binder of "irregulars," too, but it doesn't even fit in that.

  3. As a fan of 80's oddballs... I definitely give these two sets a thumbs up. I have the 1985 set, but this is the first time I've laid eyes on the 1986 design (which I agree looks better).

  4. I have Pete Rose from the '85 series. I slid it behind a picture frame that is hanging in my sports room. I didn't know what else to do with it.
