1974 Nolan Ryan Strat-O-Matic

Strat-O-Matic began as a company in 1961 as a baseball table-top game.  Statistical player cards like this 1974 Nolan Ryan are produced for each MLB player every year.
I picked up the 1974 Angels Team set a long time ago with the intent of getting this Ryan card for my collection.  The rest of the cards were just filler as far as I was concerned.
This was before I committed to being an Angels Team collector.

Pretty cool that this card reflects Ryan's single season strikeout record of 383 breaking Koufax's previous record.

I've never actually played Strat-O-Matic baseball so I really have no clue how one would use the statistics on the front and back of the cards.

Eventually I wanted to get more out of the other cards so over the years I've gotten a few of these signed.
I go through phases between baseball cards, 5x7s, ticket stubs, and other oddball stuff to get signed.
I've never been big on signed baseballs though.

"Dirty" Al Gallagher
Did you know his birth name is
Alan Mitchell Edward George Patrick Henry Gallagher?
Seriously.

NOT the Ken Berry from F-Troop.

  1. As I understood it, you rolled dice. The first one told you to look at the hitter card (1-3) or pitcher card (4-6). My guess is you add two others (2-12) to see the result of the at-bat.
