Junk Mall Junk Wax Wednesday

Ripping a random pack of junk wax from the local junk mall.

Pack of 10 with no inserts.

Love the Al Simmons photo.

I don't care for headshots in modern cards, but I love the portraits in this set. Every face has so much character in it.

I used to have this series (or it might have been the 1991 series) a while ago. Somewhere along the way I parted with it. Would love to have it back.

  1. One of the good things about these packs is that you're always guaranteed to get some good cards.

  2. If only those photographs could speak just how different the Game was & changed through the years todays players would have heat stroke playing in flannel uniforms now or have more injuries due to the equipment they used then. One thing about Conlons photographs they truly tell a story about the player & when it was a game. Another thing the Hal Newhouser card came out 1 year prior to his Induction to Cooperstown.

  3. I love conlon cards. Recently I found a lot of the Babe Ruth mega cards that use similar designs

  4. Great set. Every time I see cards from it, I'm blown away by the quality of the photography. Looks like TSN called their own shot with Newhouser. He was inducted into Cooperstown in 1992.

  5. I recently started to work on completing the whole entire set that spanned from 1991 thru 1995. It looks like it's going to be a long term project because they don't seem to pop up in the dime boxes where I tend to shop...
