Angels vs Reds Fan Packs

At the start of the season I contacted several Major League teams inquiring about obtaining a fan pack, you know, a pocket schedule, sticker, player card, whatever the team might want to send.

I went to the teams website via mlb.com and sent an email inquiring if the team sent out fan packages, or if I could at least obtain a couple pocket schedules.

I thought that I would compare what the Angels sent me to that I receive from other teams.

First I'd like to show what I received from the Reds

The fan pack came in a large 10 1/2 x 7 1/2 manilla envelope, hand addressed to me on a cool Reds address label.

Although a form letter, it's still nice that they address the fan and thank them for showing interest in the team.

Then the goodies fell out.

1) A large 7 1/2 x 3 3/4 decal.

2) A sweet 3 1/2 x 4 Mr. Red decal. Probably one of the best team mascots ever, along with Mr. Met and the Phillie Phanatic.

3) A 4 x 3 Reds logo decal.

4) The pocket schedule I was hoping for.

And then, what made this fan pack one of the best I've ever received...

5) A complete team set.

Nice looking 29 card set provided by Thompson Heating and Cooling. It's hard to tell from the scan but the Arroyo, Phillips, and Rolen cards are gold foil with a Gold Glove Award logo. The Joey Votto is silver foiled and marked MVP.

And Thompsons even includes a discounted Air Conditioning Tune-Up to Reds fans!

All this for just an email. The Reds rock in my book.

When I initally contacted the Angels, they emailed back the next day saying that they would love to send me something, just send a self-addressed stamped envelope.

OK I'm cool with that. It's free, It's my favorite team, and at least they'll still send me something. I wonder how many sticker and goodies they can cram into a business size #10 envelope? I can't wait to see what I get.

Seriously.

Again, I'm thankful for the pocket schedules.

This led me to wonder how the payroll and attendance compare between the two teams.
Angels 2011 Payroll - $138,998,524 (4th highest)
Reds 2011 Payroll - $76,181,365 (19th highest)

Angels 2010 Attendance - 3,250,814
Reds 2010 Attendance - 2,060,250

This obviously doesn't equate to fan packages.

  1. Well it's a good thing you've got someone who sends you mini fan packs! The Reds pack looks pretty great though.
