Time To Hang It Up

After 11+ years of blogging, and a lifetime of collecting, I've decided to retire the blog, and give up the card chase. The hobby has changed a lot, not for the better, and since the passing of my son Christmas 2019, my heart is just not in it anymore. The door is closed, but not locked, so maybe someday....

Thanks to the community who have been wonderful. I'll still be reading and commenting on your posts from time to time. I still owe a few of you return packages, I will not forget.

My sincerest and heartfelt thanks.

Tom

  1. I am so sorry for you loss though I am two years late on saying so.

And yes, this hobby is not in a good place for any of us blogger type collectors who collect for the fun of it. So much greed in the hobby.

I hope to see you back on here. I haven't been a long time reader but I have enjoyed what I have read.

  2. Condolences on your loss.

It's not easy blogging for some of us, and I know I'll miss reading it.

    Take care, and thanks.

  4. Completely missed the post where you mentioned your son passed. I join the others in offering my condolences.

I've enjoyed your posts (even though I didn't comment often). Maybe one day you'll be back...just like the hobby we all once enjoyed. Take care sir!

  5. Hate to see you go. Hopefully time will heal the wounds, if not completely, at least good enough.

Regardless, I hope you have a good life with whatever you choose to occupy your time.

  6. Losses are always difficult, and I'll pray for your continued healing from such a tragedy.

For what it's worth, I always enjoyed your blog. I'll miss it, but I understand where you're coming from and why you decided to stop.

I hope someday you'll return, but until then, I wish you nothing but happiness. Take care Tom.

  7. Sorry to hear, Tom.

You were one of the regulars back 9 or 10 years ago. I'll always consider you one.

There's still good in the hobby. But you should do what interests you. Good luck and hope to hear from you soon in some fashion or other.

  8. Sorry to see you go, Tom, but I understand. Thanks for more than 11 years of the Angels in Order and the trades we made. I hope you find something else you enjoy and that you eventually return if the time's ever right.

  9. I second everything pretty much everyone has already said. I didn't realize you suffered such a huge loss so recently. I'm so sorry/
I've always read your posts, although I may not have commented frequently. Your blog and popularity was what made me decide to go with the "P-town Tom" moniker.
All the best going forward. Oh, and I'm still going stockpile checklists for you!

  11. It's tough to see a longtime blogger "hang it up" but I completely understand given your personal tragedy. The hobby isn't what it used to be anyhow.

    Take care, Tom.

  13. My thoughts and prayers continue for you and your family with the loss of your son.

I will miss reading your posts, and wish you all the best in future endeavours. You were always so kind in packages of cards that you sent. Everytime I open a pack of cards and pull an Angels card, I will think of you but also your family.

  19. Tom:
I like so many before have said send my condolences. I always would read your blog posts about the love you had for the Halo-Nation as well the recent post of you catching up with old timers that most people don't have any idea about that person but your questions made them know a little more about them. My favorite was when you got a couple of the men in blue about their favorite game its things like that I'll miss reading from you good luck & hopefully the next time Halo-Nation is in the World Series you'll be leading the cheers for the rest of your readers.

  20. Although I'm a true-blue Dodger fan, I've always liked the Angels and your blog. Heck, the Angels were born in LA and my kids were born in Anaheim. I even worked a few Angels games back when Disney bought the team in the 90s. We'll definitely miss you and hope you'll post again whenever you're ready.

  21. Sorry to hear this, good luck in whatever you do to fill the spaces left by the Cards & Blog. I do hear you about the ever changing "HOBBY" so much has changed since I started collecting in 1972 at age 7.
