Snow Means Catching Up With Listia

I missed work Monday due to icy roads here in the Metroplex.  Went in later on Tuesday for the same reason, so by the end of the day Thursday I was 11 hours behind.  Today of course was to be my off-Friday since I work a 9/80 schedule.

When the opportunity to work today was made available I took it so I could make up maybe half the hours I was short.  I took it even though a winter storm was to move in around 8:00 this morning. Can't be that bad can it?

It can.  Stupid move.

Even though roads were clear and it only took my normal 40 minutes to get to work at 6:00 this morning, it took no less that 2 1/2 hours to get home, and I ended up only working four hours.

So here's what I've been picking up on Listia lately.

1994-1995 Action Packed Bledsoe card lot

Topps 1963 checklist

2001 Upper Deck Decade Super Powers SP6

1993 Upper Deck Grand Slam #24

2013 Panini Prism #69

1983 NFL Huddles
I don't know why I had to have this.

1986 Topps Tattoos

More vintage checklists!

1992 Score Rising Star #38

Been picking off 1979 and 1980 Topps cards, inching closer and closer to completing the master sets.
Only problem with singles here and there is it drains your credits pretty fast.

1961 Topps #180

Sample of 4 cards in a Patriots lot.
I really wanted the 1995 Action Packed Bledsoe, always nice to pick up a bunch of randoms with a single card you want.  I'm a bit peeved that the flag on the Todd Collins card is displayed backwards.  I know it's supposed to look like it's in motion and moving to the right, but per guidelines the blue field is always to be displayed in the upper left.

Just my two-cents.

Highlights From The Infield Fly Rule

Infield Fly Rule Trade Post

Quick hit post on a big, padded envelope with two jumbo team bags of Angels cards!

2013 Panini Triple Play #36
Kinda looks more like Mark Trumbo.

1988 Fleer #455
I've been looking at this card since 1988 and I swear this is the first time I have ever noticed that Ryan is holding his cleats under his left arm.

2012 Topps Heritage
Sweet. A consecutive run of the first 4 checklist cards for this set.
I think there's five or six total.

Fleer Baseball Logo Stickers
Checked a few off the want list.

Took me a moment to figure out why several non-Angel cards were included, then i realized that they featured Angels in the background.
I think that's Devon White on Robby Thompson's card and probably Johnny Ray on Molitor's card.

2013 MLB Baseball Stickers #14

I'm Unworthy of JBF's Junk

Seems I've received at least three packages in the last few months from Jaybarkerfan without the time to send anything in return.  He's been hitting me fast and furious with what seems to be an unlimited abundance of Angels stuff.  Here are just a few from the latest package.

1992 Topps McDonalds Baseballs Best #20
An odd set I was unaware of.
Apparently they were sold only at McDonalds in New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut
and came in 5-card packs.

1994 Topps Gold #760
Almost overlooked the gold stamped "ToppsGold" on this one.
Takes a keen eye to spot it.

1979, 1980 Topps Team Checklist cards.
Came with several other team checklist cards.

1981 Donruss #572
One of a bunch of older wax included.
Big old plug of chaw was the first thing I noticed on this card.
Then I was blown away by the abundance of green.

One of a stack of logo stickers.
I can picture Dale Murphy in his light blue Braves uniform.

2005 Donruss Leather & Lumber #14 28/100
What is that background?
I don't think it's leather OR lumber.
Or is it chipped paint on lumber?

1986 Topps Woolworth #6
Another oddball set I'm not familiar with.
Nowhere on the card is the Woolworth name, had to use my Standard Catalog of Baseball Cards to figure this one out.

2009 A&G  AGR-JW
Jared spinning around to see his fastball go yard.

2005 Topps All-Star Stitches #ASR-BC
If the jersey swatch is from the All-Star uniform, doesn't it make sense to show a picture of the player in his All-Star uniform?

Thanks for always thinking of me!

Life and Angels Baseball Cards

Wow C.C. sent a bunch of Angels cards over including some really sweet cards.  A very nice mixture of wax, inserts, parallels, and relics.  The package I sent in return probably didn't compare to these great cards, so I have him noted in my log that if I come across anymore sweet Cubs relics or inserts they will go to him.

2013 Pinnacle Swing For The Fences SF9
I don't know what you call these.  Is there a specific term or is it just "clear acetate cards"?
I called them cool!

2008 SP Rookie Exclusives RE-NA and 2006 Bowman Heritage Prospects BHP8

2009 Allen & Ginter's Crack The Code Border #233
Never tried to crack the code.
Never was even remotely interested in cracking the code.

2008 Donruss Threads Diamond Kings DK-13
Fuller never even played a game on the big club but somehow managed to get himself on a Diamond Kings card.  I'm not super familiar with the subject matter for this series but I thought it was usually top-tier players.

1983 Topps #79
Surprisingly nicely-centered 1983 card.
Can anyone tell me if that's the proper bunt stance?
Just doesn't look right to me.

2011 Topps Wal Mart Black #529
Maicer Izturis sliding into the black void of nothingness.
And about to be conked on the head by the baseball.

2010 Bowman Platinum Gold Refractor #20 239/539

2008 Upper Deck Game Jersey #99-KM
Anyone know what stadium that is in the background?

2009 Upper Deck Spectrum Red #49 012/250

2011 Topps 60 Relic T60R-JW

2013 Panini Black Friday #14
Okay, one Tim Tebow in a Patriots jersey closer to completion!
This is a really dark card, but very reflective.
The scan didn't pick up how nice a card this is.

Good Fly Day Today

There was a ton of air activity at Lockheed after work today.  Pulled off the road and took a bunch of pictures.

F-35A

F-35C and F-16 Chase

This big boy flew over my house on Sunday on the way to DFW.

A Sampling Of Dollar Store Cards

1987 Topps KMart
The KMart box sets seem to be everywhere and readily available for next to nothing.
So how is it I've managed to miss this beautiful Nolan Ryan card for my collection?

1980 Topps
Patriot Great and first favorite quarterback, this was one of a stack of Patriots cards in the package.

Checklists
Hockey checklists and then some.
Since I've received these I've had minor second thought on my Checklist collection.
I decided to concentrate on baseball checklist only.
Collecting all sports will be too overwhelming and I didn't want to burn out on this collection.
These are sweet looking cards though.

2014 Prestige
Oh yeah! Jimmy "The Next Tom Brady" Garoppolo.
No pressure though.

1996 Pinnacle Zenith
And another Patriot Great.
Hey Drew, it was YOUR jersey I was wearing when I watched the Patriots win the Super Bowl this year.  I'll never wash it now.
