Nice classic pose for Carl Erskine, but I love the Whitey Ford pose.

I used to have some Starting Lineup pieces of old-time players in that pose.

I actually find it difficult trading for Patriots in the off season.

Junk Mall Junk Wax Wednesday

Ripping a random pack of junk wax from the local junk mall.

Pack of 14 with a chance to pull a Rookie Team, Artist's Proof, Museum Collection, or Tribute insert card.

Angels cameo: Chris Turner behind the plate on the Robin Ventura card.

They'd be nice cards if it wasn't for the bricking.

Most, but not all cards, have the front photo repeated on the back.

Always Check The Price

I had to run into the local Five Below to grab a couple cheap headphones for my daughter. In a situation like that, I tend ask as an afterthought if they have any baseball cards, and when they show me they do I just grab a pack without asking the price. When I got out to the car and checked the receipt, I was surprised to find out that this 14-card retail pack was $4.00. So I have to ask, since I don't pay attention to prices ;-) is that the going rate? Four bucks for a pack of cards? When did that happen?

Okay, so I pulled a nice Trout insert. Does that mean I'll go back to get more $4 packs?

Um, No.

ThreePWE Thursday

Three TCDB PWEs coming in for today. 

First up is a four-card group from carlasgarland0110.

Nice group of parallels and an insert I received for a handful of Griffey and Josh Hamilton cards.

Ben Joyce recently set an Angels record for fastest recorded pitch at 102.3 beating Ohtani's previous record of 101.4.

I have most of the Animated Batman card sets already so I figured it was time to start with the 1993 Panini Batman Sticker set (216 stickers). These nine get me started.

Two of these will serve as placeholders in the set as they aren't in as good a shape as I would have liked.

These were unfamiliar to me, but now I have the Angels team set out of the 50-card set.

I love the design.

Pecking away at this set I once had, and now want again.

More for the Batman Sticker set. I loved the artwork from the Animated Series.

These were the last three available for trade on TCDB, so finishing this set might take me a while.

It's always nice when I can add some Silver Surfer in. I used a bunch of 1995 Fleer Ultra Spiderman cards as bait for this trade. I picked up a ton in a cheap box of "comic" cards I bought at my daughter's resale store last year.

These last three were all throw-ins!

Especially happy to get a Seth Etherton autograph card.

Votto Traded For A Former Angel

TCDBer ILLRIMESAYA reached out for a Heritage Chrome Joey Votto card he liked and offered up a trade for it. As soon as I saw this card he offered of a former Angel, I knew it was a done deal:

2002 Topps Super Teams Retrofractors #1935/1974

What a cool card. I've never seen these before. There are only former Angels in the set, the other on my wantlist being Nolan Ryan.

These were included in the offer, I only countered with a minor swap for the Heritage Jo Adell and he accepted.

Good trade.

No Series 2 Yet

I hit up Target yesterday to see if there were any Topps Series 2 I could purchase (I was actually there for ice cream but figured I would see if they had any Topps). They didn't yet, so I grabbed a fat pack of Heritage instead.

Seems Heritage is pretty plentiful this year as I keep finding it.

This pack also had a handful of dupes from the few previous packs I've bought. Of course.

There were some Angels in the pack, which I already have.

Chrome Refractor

As far as ice cream, I was able to find French Vanilla, Chocolate and Strawberry. Bryers doesn't do any of the fancy flavors I like.

Action Packed Revelation

 I recently received this card in a TCDB trade with RyanFrueh:

1995 Action Packed.

Prior to the trade I didn't realize there was a 1995 Action Packed with minor league players. The Angels have another card in the set, Eduardo Perez, also on the Canadians, and a card I also need.

The rest of the trade:

A sharp eye knows that this isn't really a 1970 Nolan Ryan. It's actually a 2017 Topps - Rediscover Topps info card. I wish it were a real 1970 Topps.
